DESIGNER PROFILE

Steve Gillett's background is in the automotive industry, having initially served a fully indentured apprenticeship with I.A.D, a well-known car design company, and later working in the motor racing industry fabricating high quality parts for various teams including F1, Indycar and the BTC.

After a successful spell at a German touring car team, Steve decided to use his skills in a different way, and became a designer, initially at Daewoo where he was trained to use 3D CAD systems.

Steve chose to specialise in car interiors and had a hand in many quality projects including the BMW 7 Series, X3, Mercedes C Class, V Class and G Wagon - even a Volvo garbage truck!

In 2001 Steve resolved to bring his two careers together and indulge his passion for furniture - thus "CURVATION" was formed. His grounding in automobile interiors - with their complicated shapes and curves - has influenced his furniture design work. Clean, clear lines flow creating an irresistible mix of the coolness of stainless steel and glass, in a softly curving design style. Totally modern - innovative - special.
